PHILOSOPHY/REASON I TEACH: Learning is a meaning-making endeavor. I teach to help children acquire the knowledge and skills to live a successful and meaningful life. In my classroom, I try to set up an enriched environment that allows my students to learn from both child-guided experience and teacher demonstration. As a classroom teacher, my job is to consider when and how to support children’s own discovery and construction of knowledge and when and how to provide teacher-guided activites and instruction.
WHAT INSPIRES ME: I am inspired by stories that have the power to transform and teach. I am inspired by how art can help us make sense of our world and by nature’s ability to help us find what is good, true and beautiful in ourselves.
PERSONAL INFO: I have been married for over 30 years and we have two amazing daughters, who are both in the field of education.
SOMETHING OTHERS MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME: I was a volunteer fireperson on the South Laguna Fire Department.
