English Language Advisory Committee
Every school with 21 or more students of Limited English proficiency must form an English Language Advisory Committee. The committee advises the principal and staff on bilingual programs and services for students with limited English proficiency.
In particular, the English Language Advisory Committee:
- Advises the principal and staff on development of a detailed master plan for bilingual education for their school.
- Submits their plan to the district governing board for its possible consideration and inclusion in the district’s bilingual education master plan.
- Assists in the development of the school’s needs assessment.
- Assists in the administration of the school’s language census.
- Assists in finding ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
- To that end, the district will provide training and materials for English Language Advisory Committee members.
The meetings are held in Room 5 at 9am and are open to all.
